Use Tapastic!

It’s actually a really great app that a LOT of comic creators (including us) are using to make their content easier to read on a mobile format. Which is great for us because our mobile site? Well it’s not the best.

It’s also an awesome content discovery tool. Looking for something to read? There are hundreds of creator-owned comics on Tapastic. Find something you love? You can even support the creators directly through a Patreon-esque system that allows you to pay them $__.__ per month just because you like what they’re doing.

Basically what I’m saying is that while I’m normally skeptical as hell of things like this, it’s really won me over and I encourage you all to check it out.

In the Year of the Rabbit?

So we decided to do an April Fool’s gag this year. Last year we were too new. We didn’t want to derail people like that. This year? We figured what the hell, why not?

We’re probably not going to do them every year, but maybe. I guess it’ll depend on how you guys like this one. James and I decided that April Fool’s gags shouldn’t just be some silly throw away comic, but instead do something cool. So they’re going to be like our version of the Marvel “What If…?” comics from back in the day.

This one’s kinda obvious. What if Little One wasn’t a bunny?

Well…this journey would be a hell of a lot easier for Kazuo, that’s for sure.

Break Times and Questions!

So it’s about that time. It’s been 7 months and I need some time to get our buffer back up to more than 4 pages. You know what that means! It’s time for a break month!

Now, since we’re still pretty terrible at taking breaks there’ll still be a little 2 page Merchant story which we’ll update on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of March but we’ll also have some behind the scenes stuff here. I was asked recently about the “process” that goes into making a page, so I think we’re going to try to illustrate that here, from Jimmy’s script through to completion as best we can.

ALSO! Since it’s a break month it’s also that time again! Ask Us Anything. You’ve got questions, we wanna answer them. What’s the airspeed of an unladen swallow? We don’t know! We’d really prefer if your question was about the comic, but let’s find out together! You can ask us questions in any one of the following ways:

Valentimes 2: The Lovening

…Lovening sounds weird. I’m beginning to regret that word choice.

It’s that time of year, Valentine’s Day is Saturday and I was overcome with the spirit of Love and wanted to make some valentines for all of you hopeless romantics/creepy stalkers out there. This time last year all we had was…well…Kazuo, Little One and some thugs. So I did my best with what I had to get some cute little valentines made. The thugs didn’t make the Valentine’s cut…

It’s been a year though, and we’ve introduced some new characters so I wanted to showcase them, along with our adorable little bunny friend in this years round of valentines.  If you prefer the old valentines and you hate me for trying something new, you can find them here!

BIRTHDAYVERSARY CONTEST!!! You, too could win free stuff!

So! As you guys are aware, it’s our first successful year of posting comics every week for your enjoyment. It’s been a wild ride. We’ve met some cool characters. We’ve seen color pages and slowly but surely we’re uncovering Kazuo’s past and discovering why he’s traveling with his little bunny. To thank you for your support, and to celebrate our 1st Birthdayversary we wanted to hold a little contest.

Here’s how it’s gonna work:

Step 1: Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter (or preferably both)

Step 2: Every Wednesday we post to Facebook and Twitter that we’ve updated the comic.

Step 3A: You Share the status on Facebook with all of your friends!

or

Step 3b: You Retweet the post to all your Twitter followers using the #Birthdayversary hashtag so we can keep track!

Step 3c: Or both!

Step 4: On January 31st we’ll pick the winners at random (names from a hat style) and contact them for their addresses and shirt sizes for one of 5 limited edition In the Year of the Rabbit shirts!

These shirts are going to be lovingly hand-crafted by a dear friend of the comic and professional screen printer and will be printed on light blue shirts. Ideally once we hear back from everyone I hope to have them shipped out by the end of February at the super latest. Once they’re shipped out we’ll contact the winners once more to give them tracking information.

IMPORTANT CONTEST INFORMATION AND RULES-TYPE THINGS

While we’d love you to repeatedly Share and Retweet our comic to all your friends, you’re only going to get one entry per social media site per week. We’re doing this to keep it fair and because we want to see how many people actually read all the rules. That’s still two potential entries per week though!

We understand and greatly appreciate that we have a lot of readers, Twitter followers and Facebook friends from different countries. If you’re one of them and you’re selected for a shirt we’re going to do our best to make sure you get it. But please remember that we’re still a Pop & Pop establishment, all these costs are coming out of our own pockets and a $15 shirt might not be worth the cost of $80 shipping.

If it looks like someone won by gaming the system we reserve the right to pick a new winner and be deeply, deeply disappointed in you.

So that’s it! 

We’re really happy to bring you guys this little contest, and I hope you guys like the shirt. Ideally we’ll start releasing some more merchandise this year, if it seems like a thing people want, otherwise I’ll probably design another shirt for next year!
