Break Month!

by Tyler on April 26, 2017 at 12:00 am

Break Month Protocol: Activate

You guys know the drill. We update for 6 months, we take the 7th month at reduced capacity so I can get some more buffer built up, and in this case, so I can also finish my classes for this semester.

That’s right! Since October, with a few small exceptions, we’ve put something up every week, while I’ve been a full time student and had a full-time job. I’m kind of exhausted and kind of proud of myself. Especially considering the school-related delays of the past.

What can you expect? What do we want from you?

Well because we’re in the middle of a story, for the month of May we’ll be updating on the 10th (my birthday, actually) and the 24th (fun fact: my dad’s birthday) and the intervening weeks will be spent building buffer, designing shirts, and maybe doing some kind of behind-the-scenes stuff.

Here’s where you come in. For the month of May (really any time, but we like to showcase it during our break month) We’d love to hear from you guys. Have a question about the comic? Ask! Have some adorable bunny fan art? We’d love to see it! Want to know why in episode BF12 we were battling barbarians riding a wing-ed Apaloosa, yet in the very next scene we’re clearly atop a wing-ed Rabian? A wizard did it. But great question. The point is we’d love to hear from you!

On April Fools

by Tyler on April 5, 2017 at 10:55 am

I like April Fools Day.

I’ve liked it since I was a kid, but the internet has taken it to a whole new level. Now it’s almost a tradition for sites to do something on April Fools Day, and whether it’s a huge website overhaul like XKCD did awhile back, or the yearly ThinkGeek products that almost always get turned into real, buyable things, it seems like if you have any kind of presence on the internet, you’ve gotta play some kind of prank on your audience.

Well…I think we should take it another way. So I think going forward, if I can fit an April Fools gag into my schedule, it’s always going to be something like this years page, and the one I did back in 2014 with the bear. Taking our characters and doing sort of a classic “What If?” scenario with them.

This comic has been one of the most creatively fulfilling things I’ve yet done, and it’s the freedom that I have as an artist to kind of do whatever I want, and interpret the scripts Jimmy gives me any way I want that make it so much fun. So I’m going to spend a few months thinking about what we should do for next year. What alternate Kazuo we’re going to see. I think it’ll be a fun ride.

Thanks for coming on it with us.

We’re Taking Next Week Off

by Tyler on March 10, 2017 at 8:45 am

Hey guys,

Just wanted to be up front about it, I’m taking next week off. Partially because I’ll be a bit overloaded with school this weekend and won’t be able to do a ton for next week, and partially because, I think it’s pretty obvious that something big is coming in the comic, and it’ll take a little more time than usual for me to get that done.

In the mean time, if you haven’t gotten caught up with the comic, get caught up now!

I’m also working on a couple new shirt ideas for later, but I’d actually like some input from you guys. If there’s anything you’d like to see make the jump from comic to merchandise, drop us a line!

See you in a couple weeks!

Happy Vimlamtimes Doy!!

by Tyler on February 16, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. In the interest of spending the day with my lady love, I didn’t work on the comic this week. We’ll be back up next week!

If this comic looks familiar, it’s because it’s also on a shirt! So if you like the design you can head over to our Threadless Artist Shop and get yourself one!

See you next week, and don’t forget that we love you!

The Further Adventures of The Merchant!

by Tyler on January 25, 2017 at 4:41 pm

So if you’ve been reading since the first year, you probably recognize that flail. It’s from one of our first, and probably most cluttered comics, where The Merchant trades it for a glowing egg (it’s probably a dragon egg, shhhh) and walks off.

If you’re especially eagle-eyed you may remember seeing it in a flashback from last year. Well this is how he got his weird little hands on it. I think the idea for li’l Merchy is that grave robbing was a pretty common profession in this era, and many times graves and battles would be pillaged for armor and weapons that could be sold illegally.

So he’s a magic thief. Taking things of interest and trading them with people who might have need of them. Or ramen bowls. We’re not entirely sure there’s a rhyme or reason for it yet 😛

We’ll be back next week with Chapter 10

Thank you
