We’re Not Dead.

*cough* Hey everyone.

Just wanted to write up a quick update letting you know that we’re not dead. The comic isn’t cancelled. we’re not quitting. Jimmy’s been working on scripts and I’ve been working on pages. We just want to get as far ahead as we can so that, even if Life..uh…[gets in the] way, we don’t wind up needing to take a hiatus like this again for awhile.

We’ve got 4 pages in the pipeline right now, for two different chapters, (one of which will be completely written and drawn by me…so that’s new,) and we’re working on creating and keeping to a timeline of events. We felt like we were getting into a bit of a “Kazuo goes to a village, gets attacked/finds bad guys/gets into fight” rut, and we wanted to get out. We really want to get into the meat of the story. We’ve had a back story, and some other ideas that we’ve been kicking around for a few years, and we think it’s time we got into them. 
There will always be fights, and bad guys, but we also want to get into some of the Why’s, and we hope you’ll enjoy them.

Takin’ a Break

What’s up guys? So as you may recall, back in August Jimmy and I were both out of the country for a little bit. He was in Japan, and I went to Ireland, and I think this time away lead to some introspection for us. When we got back we had some real talk, and we’re both feeling a little creatively burnt out with Buncom.

We both still love making it. Jimmy’s working on the next script, but he’s hit a bit of a block, so we’re going to take a break. We haven’t really decided for how long, but I think at minimum it’ll be through the holidays. We’ve talked about doing other, more serial stories both in and out of the universe of In the Year of the Rabbit. So we may work on something like that instead. We may just do our own things for a little while. I’ve wanted to redesign our website for quite some time as well. Maybe a break will give me the time to actually do that. Who knows? Regardless we’ll be back once we’re relaxed and refocused.

Goin’ On Triiiiiiips

Which means a short little break.

What’s up guys? So as we speak James is in the Land of the Rising Sun, our setting and inspiration, Japan for some sightseeing, experiencing a new country, and a linguistics conference. He’s spent some time in Kyoto, and I believe will be staying in Tokyo for a spell as well. I hope to see so so so many pictures when he gets back, and I’ll encourage him to do one of his once-or-twice-a-year posts talking about his trip.

I’m also leaving the country (for the first time) to go to Ireland next Wednesday as well. Since, no matter how freaking hard I try I can never seem to get a week or two ahead for exactly this reason, there probably won’t be any new pages until August 23rd. I’m going to still try to get the page I’m working on now (which you can see the bones of at our Instagram page) up for the 8th. But there’ll be a bit of a lag once I get back for getting the last couple pages of this chapter out.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up about it. Once we’re both back I’m sure we’ll have cool pictures and things to show you from our trips.

Happy Independance Day!

Or Happy Canada day, but late.

Basically, holiday stuff over the weekend and into the 4th kept me from finishing this week’s page. So it’ll be up next week. And it’s a doozy. A real lou lou. I promise.

Happy June!

Hey all! How was your May?

Ours was PACKED.

First and foremost, Jimmy graduated Grad School! Finally! It feels like he’s been in college for as long as I’ve known him…because he has. We also got to see two of our best friends get married, which was amazing.

I finished my finals for my latest college semester, which took FOREVER, had some family stuff come up,  bought a Nintendo Switch, and got a new job!

…which I’m still kind of feeling out, and dealing with the commute and the ways it impacts my daily life.

So…I’m gonna need another week before we can get the updates going again. With everything that went down in May I just didn’t get to as much as I wanted to. Gotta get one more page finished in the backlog is all.

Once it’s done we’ll be off to the races!
